It’s good to be a Second

Tuesday, April 20th, 2010

I had the pleasure of second shooting for my friend Crystal Sanderson last weekend. Not that I was able to relax or anything, but it is fun to experience a wedding from a different vantage point. The wedding took place in Thibodaux in the very ornate St. Joesph’s Co-Cathedral. I especially loved the groom’s cake which included edible chocolate seashells.

Katie + Paul: Maison Dupuy New Orleans

Monday, April 19th, 2010

Katie and Paul were married in the lovely courtyard at the Maison Dupuy Hotel in New Orleans. There was a great candy bar for favors and lots of good New Orleans style food. The only hitch came when the groom’s cake didn’t arrive, but the great staff at the hotel responded with a tower of white and dark chocolate covered strawberries!

Takeaway-
Having a quick thinking wedding planner or coordinator can save the day!

Katherine + Nicolas : Lafayette, Louisiana Wedding

Thursday, April 1st, 2010

Hello sunscreen for Katherine and Nicolas’ outdoor wedding in Lafayette! It was a gorgeous sunny day and all of the yellow daffodils scattered through out the reception site further reflected the sunny theme. The ceremony took place in front of a magnificent oak tree at the bride’s Aunt’s home. A reception on the lawn followed with music by Louisiana Red and the dancing didn’t stop until the sun went down. There was even a photo booth for guests to take images to place into a scrapbook for Katherine and Nic and take home a few copies as well.

The most surprising moment of the day came during the cake, er, cupcake cutting. Now I’ve seen couples get a little playful with icing and cake before, but nothing prepared me for the dual cupcake in the face, followed by Katherine throwing one at Nic. (By all accounts, it seems he got a little more aggressive than she wished. But kudos to her for fighting back!!) Don’t worry, they are still married and are honeymooning in Italy.

Takeaway:
Cupcakes are good for throwing AND taste great!
